We base our personal training sessions around a mixture of cardio and weight lifting exercises and these bring about the changes you are all slowly beginning to see.
Your nutrition and eating makes up 80-90% of your success! If you’re not eating right then all the hours spent in the gym will do little towards your weight loss goals.
So why does weight lifting help you lose weight?
1. You’ll lose 40% more fat
In a recent study people who lift weights shed six more pounds of fat than those who didn't pump iron. When you diet & don’t lift you lose muscle and this drops your scale weight, but it doesn't improve your reflection in the mirror and it makes you more likely to gain back the flab you lost. But, if you weight train as you eat well, you'll protect your muscle and burn more fat.
2. Your clothes will fit better
Research shows that between the ages of 30 and 50, you'll likely lose 10 percent of your body's total muscle if you don’t lift. And it's likely to be replaced by fat over time. That increases your waist size, because one pound of fat takes up 18 percent more space than one pound of muscle.
3. You’ll burn more calories
Lifting increases the number of calories you burn at rest. That's because after each strength workout, your muscles need energy to repair so your metabolisms is raised for hours afterward.
4. You’ll be happier
Researchers found that people who performed three weight workouts a week for 6 months significantly improved their scores on measures of anger and overall mood.
5. You'll Build Stronger Bones
As you age, bone mass goes to pot, which increases your likelihood of one day suffering a debilitating fracture. Lifting increases bone density and elevates blood levels of osteocalcin—a marker of bone growth.
So that’s why we lift guys...keep up the good work!
